The Canadian Nuclear Association (CNA) is a non-profit organization established in 1960 to represent the nuclear industry in Canada. We promote a strong vibrant and expanding nuclear industry that benefits our members, stakeholders and all Canadians.

 What we are looking for:

We are seeking a post-secondary student to maintain a wide range of regulatory initiatives in support of an ongoing regulatory and indigenous affairs program supporting our members within the Canadian nuclear sector.

The position reports to the Senior Analyst of Regulatory and Indigenous Affairs. We are a small and nimble team, and we are looking for someone that loves learning, and can work closely with our team, with the ability to work both collaboratively and independently in a hybrid environment. You are passionate about learning and experiencing working in regulatory and Indigenous affairs and supporting our members. You love working independently yet are equally interested in working as a team by pulling a deliverable together in a collaborative environment.

 What you will be doing:

In this role, you will be supporting the team with a variety of projects to support your learning experience. This includes preparing materials in support of Committee hearings and other presentations (e.g., Written submissions, Qs and As, speaking notes, etc.). You may be working with other industry associations in the development and alignment of positions on regulatory reform. We may need you to develop a mechanism for collating recent updates on provincial regulatory affairs developments. You may be asked to support our association’s efforts to further our relationships with Indigenous peoples in Canada or how industry might adapt successful strategies and programs to improve Indigenous engagements. In addition, you may be asked to review/compile background information, or data, on specified regulatory and Indigenous issues and write, edit, review regulatory updates, position papers, correspondence, and submissions on new regulatory and/or Indigenous policy developments.

The Successful Candidate will have the following:

 It would be important that you are heading back to school in September 2026 as this is a requirement of the Federal Student summer student program. You must be participating in a University or college degree in science, engineering, law, or related field of study.

We are looking for the following experience:

·       Solid technical writing and communication skills in English.

·       Some experience in planning and developing a wide array of communication content/material including web content, fact sheets, backgrounders, speeches, and news releases.

·       Experience with business software applications and Microsoft Office Suite

·       Knowledge, understanding of and/or exposure to:

o   project management

o   regulatory frameworks

o   Indigenous issues

 We are also looking for these skills and abilities that we consider an asset:

·       Working knowledge of French is an asset.

·       Familiarity with regulatory and Indigenous affairs issues and advocacy strategies on behalf of an organization would be an asset.

·       Knowledge of the priorities and policies of the Government of Canada as they relate to federal and provincial regulatory frameworks and Indigenous policies.
