  • Work Environment: CivicAction’s work is a hybrid workplace that combines both in-office and remote work. CivicAction’s physical offices are in downtown Toronto and technology will be provided to support both in-office and remote work. This position may involve some evening and weekend work.
  • Start Date: June 2, 2025
  • End Date: July 25, 2025


Position Purpose

The Development Officer will play a critical role in supporting the organization’s fundraising and stewardship efforts, particularly in managing donor relationships and supporting key initiatives aimed at driving revenue growth. This position will focus on building and maintaining a strong donor base, developing donor profiles, and assisting in key fundraising activities and campaigns.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Support the Philanthropy team in identifying and building a targeted list of core partners to support the organization’s fundraising goals, ensuring alignment with the mission and vision.
  • Update donor profiles for prospective partners, including past contributions, engagement history, and giving capacity, to inform personalized outreach strategies.
  • Prepare materials for and participate in Philanthropy team meetings, helping to track and manage donor engagement through each stage of the giving cycle.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor information in CRM (HubSpot), ensuring that all interactions, contributions, and engagement activities are recorded appropriately.
  • Conduct research to identify new prospects and support the review process for potential donors.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of fundraising and stewardship events, working with the development team to ensure all logistics are in place and that the event aligns with fundraising goals.


Qualifications and Skills

Required Education, Certification and Experience:

  • Enrollment in a post-secondary program in Fundraising, Marketing, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Demonstrated Skills and Behaviours:

  • Experience in fundraising, donor relations, or a related field, preferably within a non-profit environment.
  • Experience with CRM platforms (Salesforce or HubSpot preferred) and proficiency in managing donor databases is an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and connect with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive donor information with discretion.
  • Detail-oriented and proactive, with a focus on results and continuous improvement.
