Reports to: Community Media and Engagement Manager or designate
Term: Full-Time, Permanent
Compensation: $21.00 - $27.00 hourly

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Printing Assistant to join our team at K'en T'em Printing and Design. The Printing Assistant will primarily focus on the design, printing, and quality control processes, supporting the Printing and Design Specialist. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a dynamic work environment and has a keen eye for detail.


Primary Duties

  • Assist in the design and formatting of print materials for a variety of products, including paper products, vinyl banners, clothing, maps/drawings, labels, etc.,
  • Support the Printing and Marketing Specialist in managing the printing process from order acceptance, to design, set-up, finish, package, grommet, and final product delivery,
  • Conduct quality control checks throughout the printing process to ensure accuracy and adherence to project specifications. Equipment used such as laminator, machine creaser, folder, cutter, drill press, and heat press,
  • Prepare materials and set up printers, including loading appropriate media and conducting routine maintenance,
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure that deadlines are met consistently and efficiently,
  • Help maintain a clean and organized printing workspace, and
  • Other ad hoc duties as assigned by the Community Media and Engagement Manager or designate.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to conduct thorough quality checks,
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment with competing demands,
  • A basic understanding of design principles and familiarity with design software is an asset,
  • Excellent communication skills to work collaboratively with the team and support client needs,
  • Willingness to adapt and learn new skills related to printing technologies and procedures, and
  • Willingness to learn or understanding of beginner nłeʔkepmxcín, nłeʔkepmx cultural values and protocols while recognizing and respecting cultural diversity.


Experience and Requirements

  • Previous experience in a printing environment or similar role preferred, but not required,
  • Basic proficiency with common computer software and a willingness to learn printing-related tools and technologies,
  • Willingness to learn industry standard software such as adobe creative suite, fiery, etc.,
  • A strong work ethic and positive attitude, and
  • A valid BC Class 5 Driver's License, with access to a reliable personal vehicle an asset.


Work Environment

  • Schedule: Monday through Friday between 8:30am and 4:30pm, with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break, fluctuating when needed. On average, 35 hours per week,
  • Overtime: All daily overtime over 8 hours will be banked at 1.5x, all hours over 12 will be banked at 2x,
  • Reporting Office Location: Office work will be conducted from the K’en T’em office at 2025 Granite Ave, Merritt BC,
  • Vacation: 2 weeks paid vacation (10 working days), accrued at 0.84 per month,
  • Winter Break: 2 weeks paid (max 10 working days),
  • Benefits: 50% benefit premiums paid by employer,
  • Pension: Pension matching (percentage increasing with years of service), and
