Job Summary:
The Job Developer plays a key role in advancing our mission to create sustainable, equitable employment opportunities for Black youth and other underrepresented job seekers. This dynamic role combines strategic employer engagement with personalized employment coaching to connect qualified job seekers with meaningful, long-term work.
The successful candidate will be a results-oriented relationship builder who can match client skills with employer needs, prepare clients for the workforce, and foster inclusive workplaces where members can thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Employer Engagement & Job Development
- Cultivate and maintain a network of 50+ employer partnerships across diverse industries.
- Identify and secure 10+ quality job openings monthly, emphasizing sustainable career paths.
- Develop 5–10 new employer relationships quarterly to expand employment opportunities.
- Organize and execute job fairs, hiring events, and employer networking sessions throughout the year.
- Conduct regular site visits to understand employer needs, workplace culture, and training requirements.
- Advocate for inclusive hiring and negotiate job opportunities that align with both employer and client goals.
2. Career Coaching & Job Readiness
- Assess member skills, experience, and career interests to create personalized employment plans.
- Provide career counseling, goal setting, and one-on-one coaching sessions.
- Facilitate workshops on resume writing, interview preparation, and workplace professionalism.
- Conduct mock interviews and provide individualized feedback to boost confidence and readiness.
- Connect clients to training programs, certifications, and upskilling opportunities aligned with employer needs.
3. Job Placement & Retention Support
- Match members with suitable employment opportunities and maintain a 70% successful placement rate within 3 months of program completion.
- Conduct bi-weekly follow-ups with newly employed members for the first 3 months to monitor progress.
- Provide on-the-job coaching and retention support, addressing barriers or workplace challenges.
- Maintain a 75% retention rate at 6 months post-placement through ongoing engagement and mediation when needed.
4. Workforce Development & Community Collaboration
- Partner with training providers, community organizations, and employers to enhance program offerings.
- Stay informed on labor market trends and provide monthly reports on emerging employment opportunities.
- Participate in community workforce initiatives and contribute to local employment strategy development.
- Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in all employment practices and employer partnerships.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Degree or diploma in Business, Human Resources, Career Counseling, or Social Work, or equivalent experience in sales, account management, or workforce development.
- 1–3 years of proven experience in job development, job coaching, or employment services.
- Demonstrated success in meeting placement and retention KPIs.
- Strong knowledge of local labor market trends, inclusive hiring practices, and employment legislation.
- Excellent relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Experience working with diverse populations, particularly Black youth, newcomers, and individuals with barriers to employment.
- Certification in career coaching, employment counseling, or vocational rehabilitation is an asset.
- Valid G driver’s license and access to a vehicle for employer and site visits is required
Work Environment & Schedule
- Hybrid work model: 3 days in-office, 2 days in-field.
- Flexible hours, with occasional evening or weekend events (e.g., job fairs or employer meetings).
- Approximately 25% travel within the local area for employer visits and community outreach.
- Access to a vehicle is a requirement for this position.
