Digital Innovation Assistant

Job Type: Fixed-Term Contract (35 hours/week)
Contract Duration: July 6 – August 28, 2026 (8 weeks - Canada Summer Jobs Position)
Compensation: $18/hour
Work Model: Hybrid (remote work with one day in office per week and required in-person meetings, events, and occasional travel within the GTA)

Organizational Overview

The Council of Agencies Serving South Asians (CASSA) is a social justice registered charitable organization serving South Asian communities across Canada through advocacy, research, capacity building, policy development, and training. CASSA is an umbrella organization of more than 120 member agencies serving diverse South Asian communities.

Our work focuses on marginalized, underprivileged, and disenfranchised populations including women, youth, seniors, newcomers, low-income communities, people with disabilities.

CASSA understands and embraces the diversity of the South Asian diaspora and approaches all work through the lenses of community empowerment, racial equity, gender equity, and anti-oppression.


Position Overview

CASSA is seeking a Digital Innovation Assistant to help strengthen the organization's digital presence, communications, and innovation capacity.

This role is ideal for a creative, tech-savvy, and forward-thinking individual who is passionate about social justice, digital storytelling, emerging technologies, and finding innovative solutions to everyday challenges.

The successful candidate will support communications and outreach efforts across multiple CASSA projects, help improve social media engagement and digital content creation, explore artificial intelligence and technology tools that can increase organizational efficiency, and contribute fresh ideas that strengthen CASSA's impact and visibility.


Job Responsibilities

Digital Communications and Social Media

  • Support the development and implementation of social media strategies across CASSA's platforms, including LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and other emerging channels.
  • Create engaging digital content, including graphics, videos, reels, stories, infographics, and promotional materials.
  • Assist with scheduling, publishing, and monitoring social media content.
  • Track engagement metrics and provide recommendations to improve reach, audience growth, and engagement.
  • Support content creation for newsletters, websites, campaigns, reports, and event promotions.
  • Identify digital trends, emerging platforms, and new approaches to audience engagement.

Artificial Intelligence and Innovation

  • Research and test AI tools that can improve organizational efficiency, communications, research, event planning, fundraising, and administrative processes.
  • Help identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks and streamline workflows.
  • Develop practical recommendations for integrating AI and technology solutions into daily operations.
  • Support staff in learning and utilizing digital tools and emerging technologies.
  • Explore innovative approaches to data management, content generation, knowledge sharing, and organizational productivity.

Creative Projects and Storytelling

  • Develop creative concepts for campaigns, awareness initiatives, and community engagement activities.
  • Assist in producing visual and multimedia content that highlights CASSA's projects, impact, and community stories.
  • Support the creation of digital resources, presentations, videos, and educational materials.
  • Help document events, workshops, and community initiatives through photography, video, and storytelling content.
  • Contribute innovative ideas that strengthen CASSA's brand, visibility, and public engagement.

Technology and Organizational Support

  • Support digital aspects of webinars, virtual meetings, and community events.
  • Help organize digital assets, templates, and communications resources.
  • Assist staff with technology-related projects and initiatives as needed.

General Duties

  • Participate in team meetings and project planning activities.
  • Collaborate with staff, volunteers, consultants, and community partners.
  • Maintain organized documentation and project records.
  • Other duties as assigned, consistent with the scope of the role and organizational priorities.


Key Qualifications

Required

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a post-secondary program in Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, Graphic Design, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in social media, digital communications, technology, artificial intelligence, and innovation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong creativity and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Assets

  • Experience creating content for social media platforms.
  • Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, or other content creation tools.
  • Experience with video editing, graphic design, photography, or digital storytelling.
  • Knowledge of AI tools such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini, Claude, NotebookLM, or other emerging technologies.
  • Basic understanding of website management and digital marketing.
  • Experience using analytics tools to evaluate communications performance.
  • Knowledge of social justice, equity, anti-racism, and community-based work.
  • Ability to speak one or more South Asian languages is considered an asset.
