Position Title: Project Manager, Combatting Online Hate Toolkit for Children and Youth

Report to: Samya Hasan, Executive Director

Duration: 6 months

Hours: 35 hours/week

Pay: $50,000 annual salary

The Council of Agencies Serving South Asians (CASSA) is looking for a Project Manager - Combatting Online Hate Toolkit for Children and Youth for a 6-month position to support the CASSA to adapt the #Eradicatehate Toolkit specifically for children and youth in Ontario. This is a remote/virtual position.


CASSA is a social and economic justice umbrella organization, working in Ontario since 1988. As a non-profit organization, CASSA facilitates economic, social, political and cultural empowerment of South Asians by serving as a resource for information, research, mobilization, coordination and leadership on social justice for the community.


Responsibilities:

  • Raise awareness about the impact of online hate and the harms it can cause on individuals and communities
  • Provide support and resources to build capacity of children and youth to recognize, combat and take down online hate
  • Conduct a need assessment of the types of support children and youth need in the space of online hate (consultations with children, youth, parents, school boards, social media experts, and youth-serving organizations)
  • Verify secondary research, past consultation, and feedback on the modes of communication that have impact on children and youth such as storytelling, interactive online experiences, social media campaigns, short animations, and awareness and educational graphics, posters for school boards, memes and GIFs for social media, etc.
  • Creating content by securing contractors, vendors, graphics designers, web developers, animators, app developers, etc. to transform content into visuals for children and youth.
  • Create content based on results of the consultation and secondary research
  • Create a brief series of focus groups with children and youth to test content before dissemination
  • Disseminate the strategy in Ontario and online using popular and youth-focused social media platforms such as TikTok, Snapchat, Instagram, and Facebook
  • Utilizing our networks through the Anti-hate Community Leaders’ Group (40+ organizations in Ontario), CASSA’s member agencies (120+ organizations in Ontario), and CASSA ongoing partners and networks
  • Disseminate additional resource through school boards, social media, youth- serving organizations, libraries, and community Centre
  • Sharing the tools and resources through CASSA partners with their communities.

Qualifications:


· Excellent organizational and coordination skills

· A strong understanding of anti-oppression, anti-racist, anti-hate frameworks

· Experience in conducting and facilitating community consultations

· Some experience in facilitation and conducting Focus groups

· Passionate about community-focused projects and research supporting racialized communities

· Able to work independently and in a team.

· Proactive, organized and have some experience in research

· Experience with social media and other online platforms

· Ability to secure and work with multiple vendors with a short timeline

· Experience creating content for children and youth

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Excellent time management and organization skills

· Experience in the not-for-profit sector and knowledge of CASSA’s mission and vision is an asset

· Prior experience in an Anti-racism or Anti-hate projects will be an asset
