Description: A Project Coordinator will be hired to coordinate a National Working Group to conduct data collection and research into the state of gender-based violence (GBV) in South Asian communities during the COVID-19 pandemic. This project will involve research, tool development/dissemination and advocacy and will involve partners from Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario. The Project Coordinator will be working with (four) Regional Leads in the 3 provinces and up to 10 organizations who will comprise of the Working Group. Project aims to build capacity of agencies that serve South Asian victims of GBV to better address the problem in the context of the pandemic using best practices and culturally competent tools and data.


Job Requirements:


Research

· Responsible for community-based research with organizations serving South Asian women - investigate how they are providing GBV services and programming,

· Ability to do analysis of best practices in the pandemic, what tools are being used, what tools they would like to see being developed.

· Identifying systemic issues increasing GBV in South Asians that need to be addressed

· Develop research questions and methodology with Regional Leads.

· Support focus group facilitation and survey development


Tools Development/ Dissemination

· Partnering with Partner and supporting organizations/groups.

· Developing tools to support organisations working with South Asian victims of GBV such as using public education materials, guide to culturally sensitive services, training modules for staff, virtual service models for staff etc.

· Support the National Working Group in disseminating the tools in all the three provinces serving South Asian GBV victims.


Advocacy

· Analysis of Systemic/policy/regulatory issues which can lead to GBV with focused advocacy.

· Coordinate with working group to produce data and resources which can benefit organizations providing virtual or in-person to victims of GBV.


Administrative Task

· Responsible to successfully coordinate with lead agencies and support organizations to develop the tools and its dissemination.

· Coordinate National Working Group meetings, take minutes, keep partners updated.



Key Qualifications:

· Minimum 2 years working racialized and marginalized communities.

· Minimum 2-3 years of experience with doing research, tool development and advocacy.

· Completion of post-secondary degree relating to social sciences, human rights, public policy, or related field.

· Prior qualitative and quantitative community-based research experience.

· Experience working with community members, faith groups, and organizations supporting victims of violence

· Demonstrated project coordination and implementation skills, including the management of external partner organization staff, and meeting multiple project deadlines.

· Ability to liaise with stakeholders such as social service agencies and bureaucracy professionals.

· Strong leadership skills: integrity, ability to build the trust of others; ability to deliver results.

· Experience working with South Asian communities or other marginalized communities.

· Some understanding of social media promotions, marketing, and outreach.

· Experience in addressing GBV would be an asset.

· This position will be remote until December 2021, work location will be reviewed after every quarter depending on the state of the COVID-19 pandemic.
