About CANImmunize

CANImmunize is a Canadian-owned technology company with over a decade of experience building best-in-class digital health solutions for public health. As a fully remote company, we embrace flexibility while staying closely connected across Canada. Our platforms help make immunization programs more efficient, effective, and accessible across Canada.

We’re a small but mighty team that values curiosity, accountability, and kindness. Collaborative and innovative by nature, we thrive in a fast-moving environment and take pride in the real-world impact of our work.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a Full Stack Engineer to join our growing Engineering team. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you'll help build and improve the software that public health teams across Canada rely on every day.

This opportunity is particularly well-suited to someone early in their software development career, including recent graduates or developers with approximately zero to three years of professional experience. We're looking for someone with a strong technical foundation, a willingness to learn, and the curiosity to grow into a well-rounded engineer.

You'll write real code that ships to real users, with support from experienced engineers who will help you develop your skills through code reviews, pairing sessions, and day-to-day mentorship.

As part of the team, you’ll:

  • Build and maintain features and fixes across the front end and back end.
  • Learn our engineering standards and best practices, and put them into practice.
  • Work alongside product managers, designers, and engineers to understand what we’re building and why.
  • Grow quickly with support from a team that genuinely invests in your development.

This is a great opportunity for someone who loves solving problems, is eager to develop their skills, and wants their work to make a real difference in public health.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build & Ship: Develop, test, and maintain well-scoped features and bug fixes, with attention to quality, security, and reliability.
  • Learn the Craft: Implement solutions following the design and architectural direction set by senior engineers, and ask questions early when something is unclear.
  • Code Quality: Write and maintain automated tests, including unit, integration, and end-to-end (E2E) tests. Participate in code reviews and help identify issues before release.
  • Collaboration: Work from well-defined tickets, keep your work visible, and communicate proactively when you hit blockers.
  • Production Support: Help investigate support tickets and resolve issues with guidance from senior teammates. Shadow on-call, building toward joining the rotation over time.
  • Growth: Actively seek out and apply feedback from code reviews, pairing, and mentorship to keep levelling up.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to support system availability and incident response.
  • Other duties as required.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • A degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience such as co-op, internships, a bootcamp, or substantial personal projects.
  • Foundational skills in TypeScript, with hands-on experience in React and Node.js.
  • A basic understanding of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and API development.
  • Familiarity with Git and collaborative workflows: branches, pull requests, and code reviews.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Clear communication skills, including being comfortable asking questions and explaining your thinking in a remote-first environment.
  • A growth mindset and openness to feedback.

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to React Native or mobile development.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS preferred), CI/CD, or containerization tools like Docker.
  • Experience on an agile/scrum team through co-op, internships, or school projects.
  • An interest in healthcare technology or public health.

What’s in it for You?

  • Competitive compensation: a strong salary, comprehensive health and dental benefits, and a profit-sharing program so you share in our success.
  • Generous time off: 3 weeks paid vacation, plus 3 extra CANI Days to recharge, and a paid winter shutdown in December.
  • Growth that matters: a professional development budget, in-house coaching, and mentorship to help you level up your career.
  • Work anywhere in Canada: we’re a fully remote team, and we’ll equip you with the tools and tech you need to do your best work.
  • Culture that energizes: join a high-performing, fast-moving team that values curiosity, kindness, and accountability.
  • Impact that lasts: your work will directly contribute to making healthcare more effective, accessible, and people-focused across Canada.

Compensation

At CANImmunize, we’re committed to paying fairly, transparently, and for growth. This role has an annual base salary range of $70,000 to $155,000.

While the broader salary band accommodates engineers at varying stages of their careers, this particular opportunity is intended for someone early in their development career, and we anticipate compensation will align with that level of experience.

Where you land within the range will depend on your skills, experience, and the contributions you bring to the team. We support continued growth through regular career development conversations and performance-based compensation reviews.

Be Yourself at Work

At CANImmunize, we know that diverse teams build better solutions. No matter who you are or where you come from, you’ll be valued, supported, and respected as part of our community.

We’re committed to creating an inclusive and accessible workplace where everyone can thrive. If you require accommodations at any stage of the recruitment process, just let us know. We’ll work with you to make sure you have what you need.

We can’t wait to meet you. Come help us build the future of digital health in Canada!
