Empowered by the First Nations Leadership Council and in partnership with the provincial and federal governments, the BC First Nations Justice Council (BCFNJC) is responsible to 204 First Nations in BC. Our mandate is to reduce the overrepresentation of Indigenous people in the criminal justice system and to support Nations as they move to sovereignty over justice.

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Gladue Services, the Gladue Manager, Quality Assurance and Mentorship will be responsible for the development and implementation of quality assurance protocols alongside Manager of Reports and Aftercare within the Gladue Services Department. This role is essential in ensuring that all reports align with our standards. This position is also responsible for mentoring new team members, providing guidance on best practices in Gladue Report Writing, and fostering an environment that encourages professional growth.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance and Oversight
- Develop and implement quality assurance protocols for report writing.
- Review and evaluate reports for accuracy and compliance with the rubric metrics.
- Document written feedback to the team members for them to enhance their report quality.
- Continuously assess and improve report writing process and workflows.
- Collect and analyze feedback to refine quality assurance measures within mentorship programs.
- Stay informed on best practices in reporting metrics related to quality assurance in the department.
- Provide feedback and support for mentees/GSD team members.
- Maintain tracking system for report submissions.
- Lead projects related to quality assurance and reporting initiatives as needed.
Mentorship
- Mentoring GSD staff, offering guidance on best practices and strategies for report writing.
- Conduct regular check in and training sessions as needed.
- Maintain and create resources, templates, guidelines and sample materials for reference.
- Identify relevant QA training needs and opportunities
- Ensure the team incorporates quality methods into their work.
- Create and maintain QA control documentation.
- Provide positive contribution to the team dynamics.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
- 5+ years of relevant education and/or other experience related to working with Indigenous or non-Indigenous social, community or government agencies.
- Knowledge of Indigenous cultures, an understanding of the local Indigenous cultural environment and experience in Indigenous community engagement
- Knowledge of provincial and local agencies that offer support services to Indigenous peoples, for offenders, children, youth and families.
- Proven experience in Gladue Report Writing
- Ability to create and review technical documentation, including project plans, test procedures, and design documents.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop team members.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other relevant software.
- Valid Driver’s License, the use of a vehicle and ability to travel
- A clear criminal reference check (CPIC) and Vulnerable Sector Clearance will be a condition of employment
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with interpersonal skills and ability to foster and work within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Ability to foster relationships and build rapport while creating/maintaining a culturally safe environment.
- Strong organization, file management, and stress management skills
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and demonstrate a high level of professional with tact and good judgment in dealing with sensitive issues.
- Experience facilitating issues in a highly sensitive environment; setting priorities and making decisions between high profile and competing needs; working with a diverse constituency.
- Able to work independently with minimal day-to-day supervision as well as working within a collaborative team framework.

Reporting: This position will report to the Director of Gladue Services
Location: Any BCFNJC location, Hybrid, or Remote BC
Benefits: Extended benefits package that includes health and dental, personal days, paid vacation, and RRSP/TFSA savings plans
Pay Range: $75,000 - $85,000 annually
Hours: Full-time (35hours / week); 8:30am - 4:30pm Mondays to Fridays
