Empowered by the First Nations Leadership Council and in partnership with the provincial and federal governments, the BC First Nations Justice Council (BCFNJC) is responsible to 204 First Nations in BC. Our mandate is to reduce the overrepresentation of Indigenous people in the criminal justice system and to support Nations as they move to sovereignty over justice.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Accounts Payable Manager, the Accounts Payable Data Entry Clerk will be responsible for assisting the accounts payable team in their regular entering and processing of invoices and receipts. This position will be responsible for a variety of accounting related tasks for multiple departments and locations within the province.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Organization of accounts payable invoices and related data entry.
  • Processing of semi-monthly accounts payable electronics fund transfers.
  • Day-to-day organization and monthly reconciliations of executive credit cards.
  • Entering and processing of employee expense reports.
  • Travel expense organization and reconciliation.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Work Experience:

  • Education or experience in accounting or related field preferred.
  • Experience in AR, AP, Payroll, GST and Payroll Remittances, Bank & Credit Card Reconciliations and Sage Intacct accounting program.
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting principles, financial statements, and accounting systems.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Sage Intacct accounting program.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of SharePoint and file management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint) and other relevant software and multiple media platforms.
  • Proficient in MS Office programs including Word and Outlook, with advanced skills in MS Excel.
  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to work with minimal. supervision in a team-oriented setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and take initiative.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with interpersonal skills and ability to foster and work within a multidisciplinary remote team environment.
  • Ability to foster relationships and build rapport while creating/maintaining a culturally safe environment.
  • Work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • A clear criminal reference check from the Canadian Police Information Centre and Vulnerable Sector Clearance will be a condition of employment.

Reporting: Accounts Payable Manager

Location: Remote BC

Benefits: Extended benefits package that includes health and dental, personal days, paid vacation, and RRSP/TFSA savings plans

Pay Range: $52,000 to $65,000 - salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

Hours: Full-time (35hours / week); Mondays to Fridays
