Observer-Communicator

Observer-Communicators provide the aviation sector with essential meteorological information by performing hourly weather observations and special observations to maintain current weather conditions. Aviation weather reports include cloud types, heights, and amounts, visibility, precipitation types and amounts, wind speed and direction, temperature and humidity information, atmospheric pressure information. Weather reports are transmitted and made available to a wide range of users within diverse national agencies.

Requirements for the position:

• Must be available for rotational shift work
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work location

Candidates who successfully complete the screening process, including a short entrance exam will be required to attend a mandatory training course in Fort Smith, Northwest Territories. The training program is designed to provide the knowledge and practical skills required to perform the duties of an Observer-Communicator. The program duration is approximately 10 to 11 weeks. There is no cost associated with the training program. ATS Services Ltd. covers travel and accommodations and also provides a small per diem to cover the cost of food and incidental expenses during training. Please note that wages are not provided while attending training.
