Seasonal Community Interpreter

Term: Monday May 4, 2026, to Monday September 7, 2026.

Job Type: Seasonal, full time (35 hours weekly)

Location: St. Albert’s Historic River Lots + Grain Elevators, 4 Meadowview Drive, St. Albert, AB

Workdays: 5 days a week. The work schedule requires weekend work, holiday Mondays and occasional

evenings.

 

St. Albert’s Historic River Lots & Grain Elevators is home to four historic buildings connected to St.

Albert’s Métis and Francophone histories, two provincially designated grain elevators, and a replica

train station. Our interpreters will have the opportunity to share the rich history of St. Albert's

agricultural, fur trade, Métis, and Francophone communities at this location by assisting with the

educational and community programming, tours, and special events.

 

This position assists in sharing information and caring for the community garden by preparing program materials, planning drop-in activities, setting up community programming sites and providing guided tours of the gardens.

The Seasonal Community Interpreter works as part of the interpretive team leading pre-booked school, daycare & day camp programs, organizing and participating in local community events & drop-in activities, and providing informative, engaging tours of the gardens and historic buildings on the heritage site.

 

Ideal candidates will have:

• Background or interest in history, museum studies, education, Indigenous studies, theatre or

anthropology.

·  Experience working in a community garden on a heritage site. 

• Strong communication skills

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Dropbox and social media platforms such as

Facebook and Instagram

• Collaborative skills to work in a team environment

• Experience interacting with children

• Current First Aid Certificate
