The Role
Andersen LLP is looking for a detail-oriented and client-focused part-time Bookkeeper to join our public practice team. This role involves working with a diverse portfolio of clients across multiple industries, providing accurate and timely bookkeeping services, and supporting client relationships. The ideal candidate has strong technical skills in accounting software, excellent communication skills, and thrives in a professional services environment where deadlines and client service are top priorities.

Key Responsibilities
· Manage bookkeeping for multiple clients, including day-to-day transaction recording, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
· Prepare and file sales tax (GST/HST, PST, QST) returns for clients.
· Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
· Prepare payroll runs and related government remittances when required.
· Generate and review client financial reports to support decision-making.
· Assist with year-end working papers and provide accurate records to managers and senior accountants for review.
· Respond promptly and professionally to client inquiries, offering clear explanations of financial data and processes.
· Maintain organized records in accordance with firm standards, ensuring accuracy and audit readiness.
· Collaborate with colleagues to support client service delivery and continuous improvement in firm processes.
Qualifications:
· Diploma, certificate, or equivalent experience in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or related field.
· Previous bookkeeping experience in a public practice / professional services environment is strongly preferred.
· Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, or similar).
· Solid working knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
· Strong understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles, including sales tax and payroll compliance.
· Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple client files with competing deadlines.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a client-service mindset.
· Commitment to confidentiality, accuracy, and professional integrity.
Preferred Assets:
· Experience with multiple accounting platforms and cloud-based bookkeeping systems.
· Familiarity with Canadian tax rules for small businesses and professional corporations.
· Previous exposure to working directly with external accountants on compilation or review engagements.
· Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) modules and integrated systems would be an asset.
The successful candidate can be based anywhere in Canada but will be required to work on MST time zone.
