The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television is the largest non-profit professional arts organization in Canada, with a membership of more than 3,500 emerging and established industry professionals. Founded in 1979, the Canadian Academy is dedicated to recognizing, celebrating, and advocating for Canadian talent in the film, television, and digital media sectors while remaining committed to nurturing all levels of talent through professional training, networking opportunities, and guidance.

The Canadian Academy is seeking a Manager, Partnerships with a background in development, sponsorship acquisition, and relationship stewardship. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Partnerships, this role will work closely with both the Coordinator, Partnerships and the wider Academy team to cultivate, grow, and steward new and existing partnerships, ensuring successful deliverables across a variety of platforms.


Specific responsibilities:

  • Work alongside the Senior Manager, Partnerships, to build and maintain relationships with Academy partners, government agencies, donors, and other stakeholders
  • Lead annual partnership renewal and outreach process
  • Drive new business opportunities and sponsorship revenue across the Academy by identifying, prospecting and engaging potential partners, which includes scheduling and attending pitch meetings as required
  • Be the department lead on all systems and programs functionality, including but not limited to Asana and Salesforce 
  • Actively participate in the ideation phase for proposal creation
  • Liaise with internal teams and external agencies to develop and deliver all partner benefits, assets, and activations
  • Collaborate with the Communications department to ensure maximum visibility across digital marketing and social media platforms
  • Research and execute grant applications
  • Spearhead development and execution of annual fundraising of all types (individual giving, wide appeal, special events)
  • Track and monitor the organization’s funding goals alongside the finance team and generate status reports as required, including for the Board of Directors
  • Represent the Academy at industry events, actively building new relationships and promoting the Academy's work


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of sales, business development, sponsorship or fundraising experience with post-secondary credentials in a related field
  • Exceptional project management skills with a very keen eye for detail and the ability to move projects forward
  • Impeccable people skills with a friendly, confident, discreet, and professional demeanour
  • Strong communication, sales, and public relations skills, both written and verbal
  • A bold and creative thinker, with a keen eye for detail and design
  • Ability to pivot quickly and solve problems
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Proficient in Google Workspace, Salesforce, Canva, and a quick and confident learner of cloud-based software applications
  • Strong interest and knowledge of the Canadian media landscape is considered an asset
  • Previous experience with the non-profit sector is an asset
  • Proficiency in French, both written and spoken, is an asset

SALARY: $55,000 per annum. 


Health and dental insurance coverage is provided by the Academy after three months of employment.  The Academy also offers a Group RRSP with matching contributions after one year. Up to ten paid wellness days are also offered in addition to ten paid vacation days.


Canadian Academy staff members are working full-time from home remotely. Staff are required to attend in-person meetings and events as needed.


Office hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. A commitment of 40 hours/per week is required. Evening work and overtime are required for special events throughout the year, as well as during the Canadian Screen Awards and their lead-up.
